Ellen Pompeo knows how to turn heads on the red carpet!
The Grey’s Anatomy star, 54, shimmered at Monday night’s Emmys in a silver shirt from Filipino fashion designer Monique Lhuillier which showed off her bra underneath. The actress teamed the top with a black necktie, a black silk maxi-skirt and diamond stud earrings while her blonde hair loosely tied back.
Ahead of the 2023 Emmys ceremony, which were originally slated for September before being postponed from their original 2023 date, Pompeo shared a sneak peek at her awards show style via Instagram.
Posting two candid images of herself in a carousel, the actress captioned her post, “It took a village today!! A big thank you to my team,” alongside a star emoji.
The actress tagged her glam squad for the evening ,which included Chanel makeup artist Kate Lee, nail artist Ashlie Johnson, hair stylist Dawson Hiegert and stylist Petra Flannery.
Several famous faces were fans of Pompeo’s look including pop star Pink, 44, who commented, “You look perfect.” Meanwhile, Shonda Rhimes, who is the creator, head writer and executive producer of Grey’s Anatomy, wrote, “Fabulous!”
Fans of Grey’s Anatomy were spoilt at Monday night’s awards — which were held at Los Angeles’s Peacock Theater. Pompeo was joined onstage by fellow original cast members Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers, James Pickens Jr. and Chandra Wilson to hand out the award for outstanding supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie.
While presenting the award, Pompeo took the opportunity to reflect on the hugely successful hospital drama that made her into a household name.
“When the first episode of Grey’s Anatomy aired in March 2005, I’m not sure Shonda Rhimes knew that she had created a show that will have a lasting influence on television and create lifelong friendships,” she said.
Chambers — who played Dr. Alex Karev — continued, noting how the show and its “400 episodes and counting,” have become a “tribute to everyone who is now part of our family.”
Heigel then thanked the show’s incredibly loyal fan base, calling them, “one thing that had remained a constant.”
Wilson, who remains on the series as Dr. Bailey, went on to recount some of the most memorable moments from the show. “You stayed with us through plane crashes, super storms, earthquakes and a global pandemic,” he said. “And as we start our 20th season, we are officially the longest running primetime medical drama in TV history.”
After 19 seasons, Pompeo officially stepped back as series lead of the ABC drama. The actress, who remains an executive producer, will still provide voice-overs as Grey’s continues to move forward.
At the time, Rhimes, 54, paid tribute to her longtime collaborator via Instagram, posting, “What a journey these 19 seasons have been! Wouldn’t trade them (or you) for the world. Beyond excited for your next chapter. See you later, Dr. Grey.”
